Yanmar has launched the new YT4S and YT5S tractor series, updating its mid-power offering with a range centred on continuously variable transmission (CVT), configurable track systems and enhanced operator flexibility. The new lineup includes the YT488S (88 hp), YT498S (98 hp), YT4104S (104 hp) and YT5114S (114 hp), all powered by a 3.1-litre four-cylinder Yanmar engine.
A key element of the launch is the adoption of a CVT transmission across the range, allowing seamless speed variation up to 34 km/h in wheeled configurations. The tractors are also available in semi-track versions, reflecting Yanmar’s continued focus on applications where traction, flotation and reduced ground pressure are increasingly important. In tracked form, maximum speed is reduced to 25 km/h on the YT4S series and 30 km/h on the YT5114S.
The higher-specification YT4104S and YT5114S can additionally be equipped with Power Turn adjustable track width technology, allowing operators to modify wheel spacing directly from the cab across multiple settings. This feature highlights a growing emphasis on machine adaptability for different crop systems and row configurations.
Beyond transmission technology, the launch reinforces Yanmar’s long-term strategy of positioning the YT platform as a premium compact-to-mid-power tractor architecture, combining modularity, comfort and advanced driveline solutions rather than competing solely on horsepower. Yanmar has historically used the YT family as a showcase for CVT integration and operator-focused design concepts.
