Zoomlion Unveils 9DX Four-Track Hybrid Tractor with 1,600 HP Peak Output, Raising the High-Power Stakes

Zoomlion has introduced the 9DX hybrid four-track tractor at the China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition in Tianjin on 26 October 2026, positioning the machine at the extreme upper end of agricultural traction technology. The company reports peak power of 1,600 hp, maximum torque of 7,200 Nm and a hybrid continuously variable driveline. The 1,600 hp figure represents claimed peak output, not a verified continuous power rating, and independent field performance data have not yet been published.

The 9DX combines an 800-volt dual-motor architecture with four 762 mm-wide tracks, hydraulic flow capacity of 636 litres per minute and a stated maximum travel speed of 40 km/h. Zoomlion says the tractor is designed for demanding operations on very large farms, including heavy cultivation and wide seeding equipment. The manufacturer also claims efficiency improvements of 10–15% compared with unspecified competing machines, although these figures remain unverified under independent operating conditions.

The launch extends Zoomlion’s hybrid tractor strategy beyond the DX7004 wheeled model, whose 700 hp rated output and 1,200 hp peak output had already illustrated the company’s high-power ambitions. The strategic significance goes beyond the headline horsepower figure: Chinese manufacturers are investing in electrified transmissions, digital control and high-draft tractor architectures traditionally dominated by a limited group of international OEMs. The commercial challenge will be demonstrating reliability, competitive ownership costs and meaningful customer adoption.

Bottom Line: Zoomlion’s 9DX represents a significant technological statement in ultra-high-power tractors, although manufacturer performance claims must be distinguished from independently validated field productivity and commercial maturity.
