Russian agricultural machinery manufacturer GRONN (Gryazinsky Cultivator Plant) has expanded its deep-tillage portfolio with a new 5-metre subsoiler, moving the company’s offering into a higher-capacity working-width class. The development represents a meaningful step above GKZ’s currently documented ЩГН-4, which operates across 3.8 metres with nine working elements and is designed for tractors in the 250–350 hp range.
The broader architecture remains focused on breaking compacted subsoil layers rather than conventional inversion tillage, improving water penetration, soil aeration and root development at depth. GKZ’s existing deep-ripping platform operates between 25 and 55 cm, using a reinforced frame and overload protection for demanding soils. The move to five metres therefore points primarily toward higher field capacity and larger tractor classes, rather than an entirely new soil-working principle.
Bottom Line: The machine is not technologically disruptive, but it is relevant as another example of Russian implement manufacturers moving toward wider and higher-capacity equipment. For GKZ specifically, the 5-metre model also fits with the company’s recent manufacturing modernization and suggests that investment is beginning to translate into a broader product portfolio.
