Överum Revives Wing Jet Fertiliser Spreader Range with New 6024 Model and Precision Application Technology

Swedish agricultural machinery manufacturer Överum is returning to the pneumatic fertiliser spreader market with the Wing Jet 6024, a modernised version of a product concept previously associated with the company’s equipment portfolio. The introduction represents a significant step in the rebuilding of Överum’s machinery offering following its 2025 insolvency and subsequent acquisition by Swedish investors. Designed for fertiliser, microgranule and seed distribution, the new Wing Jet combines a 6,000-litre stainless steel hopper with a 24-metre application boom, bringing an established spreading principle into a new generation of precision agriculture technology.

The Wing Jet 6024 distributes material pneumatically through 20 outlets, using four electrically driven metering shafts to regulate application rates. ISOBUS compatibility enables operators to adjust spreading rates using prescription maps or nitrogen sensor data, while GPS-based Section Control manages four independently controlled boom sections. The machine also incorporates weighing cells, hydraulically adjustable boom geometry and hydropneumatic suspension to support application consistency across varying field conditions. With an empty weight of 3,590 kg, a maximum payload of 6,000 kg and a transport width of three metres, the spreader is intended for professional operations requiring high-capacity fertiliser application. Initial deliveries are expected in spring 2027.

The reintroduction of Wing Jet technology is particularly significant in the context of Överum’s industrial recovery. Following the company’s restructuring under new ownership, the renewed spreader range extends its commercial offering beyond its established plough business while drawing on a technology platform developed over several decades. Pneumatic boom spreading offers a different approach from conventional centrifugal systems, with potential advantages in controlling application width and reducing sensitivity to wind and fertiliser characteristics. By combining this distribution principle with electronic metering and digital application management, Överum is positioning the Wing Jet 6024 within a market increasingly focused on input efficiency and precision nutrient management.

Bottom Line

The Wing Jet 6024 represents more than the return of a familiar product name. It signals Överum’s efforts to rebuild and diversify its agricultural machinery portfolio after a period of financial and ownership disruption. The combination of established pneumatic spreading technology and modern precision controls could provide the manufacturer with a differentiated offering in the European fertiliser application market, although its commercial impact will depend on production execution, distribution capabilities and customer adoption.
