Grimme Launches Largest Investment Program in Company History to Expand Production Capacity

Grimme has initiated the largest investment program in its 160-year history, committing €50 million by the end of 2027 to expand its manufacturing footprint in Damme and Rieste, Germany. The strategy aims to significantly increase production volumes, particularly for potato and sugar beet harvesting machinery, while strengthening logistics, used-equipment operations, and employee infrastructure.

At its Damme headquarters, Grimme is constructing a new administrative building designed to accommodate nearly 200 staff, supporting organisational growth and centralised operations. In Rieste, the company is opening a 5,200 m² used-machine centre, reflecting rising strategic importance of refurbishment, resale, and lifecycle services in Grimme’s business model. The site will also serve as a training hub for staff and technical development.

A new 4,000 m² assembly hall is scheduled for completion by 2027, housing four production lines dedicated to potato and beet harvesters, with the objective of boosting throughput and improving manufacturing efficiency. Additional logistics, shipping, and spare-parts facilities are also planned, supported by newly acquired land near the A1 motorway.

Grimme reported €814 million in annual revenue, employs over 3,300 staff worldwide, and continues expanding its global sales and service presence, including upcoming operations in Brazil and South Africa.

Bottom line: Grimme is doubling down on industrial scale and lifecycle services, signalling confidence in long-term demand for high-capacity root-crop machinery despite broader market volatility.
